I’ve been thinking about her a lot lately. Her name is Abbey. I haven’t mentioned my best friend who I lost on October 2, 2020. Too sad. She died in my arms in the garden. It was a beautiful day. Not a single cloud in the sky. As peaceful as it gets. Her we are just a few hours before she crossed over.
Here she is when I got her.
Misc. pictures of her.
Dbanjo wears her red harness now.
Watching TV together.
King County Metro gave all drivers one month off for the CV19 virus. Call in anytime and say, “Covid 19,” and you can stay out one month and get paid for it. They extended it too if you felt a cough coming on.
One driver told me she went to her base chief and told him she can’t drive, she’s extremely afraid of catching the virus. She took an entire year off. Too bad for her because when she returned nothing much had changed. The new variant created a new fear for her and the next one too. I used that month to stay home with Abbey. Every morning I took her swimming. In the above picture she’s standing in Beaver Lake—time 7:07am.
Ignore that bullshit sign.
Now Dbanjo. Back in love again.
In memory of Abbey. The spirits often call out her name. She won’t leave. I sometimes recorder her barking in the house. I suspect she will be the first to greet me when I step out of my body for the last time.
When I opened Substack this morning to post this, I was greeted with this in Notes.
That’s a dog-like coincidence, god-like too. Powerful forces at play here.
Absolutely beautiful! There's really nothing better than the bond between a human and their beloved critter - they are with you forever. The anguish we experience when they depart is the price we pay for unconditional love.
OMG...I'm in tears...we were going through some old photos the other day - of all the animals we've rescued over the years...the victories and the failures...we had to stop...tears were flowing...
We stopped counting when it got past 150 animals rescued from just on barrio area - and more than that have come through our doors (and loving arms) in the past 20 years...
The five huge dogs who were roaming as a pack that we brought in from the street - it almost killed us to see their pictures - they lived in the huge shop , with a fenced in outdoor area and air conditioning and beds and toys...they were always such a joy! They were so amazing...and we lost the last one two years ago...
You never stop missing and loving them all...pets are the best of this world...
Kisses to you and DJango...he's such a hunk! You're adorable too...LOL XO
