Mike, I just found this out, and thought I'd drop it here. Earlier I was watching a flight simmer on Twitch, Dane Flats, and during his show viewers can choose songs that play while watching. The chatters are mostly our age I think, and lots of great old hits and bands are heard each night, everything from Led Zeppelin to 70's disco.

One guy tonight played Daydream Believer by the Monkees. I duck duck go'd it to see what year it came out. It hit #1 in December 1967. The song was written by a John Stewart who was with the Kingston Trio at the time. Lead vocal was Davy Jones.

What surprised me was how the song was categorized in the search results - Baroque Pop or Psychedelic Pop. What? Who came up with that shit? I liked the Monkees, watched their show when I was in Junior High. Loved Daydream Believer.

And that reminded me of the time I got high with a band member of the Kingston Trio. They played a show at the Inn of the Seventh Mountain in Bend Oregon where I worked that summer of 1978. After the show he came by the front desk to talk, and brought out a bunch of fat joints, Maui Wowie he said.

I couldn't finish my shift that night.
