The ol' guy and I have been sober a long time. At least 15 yrs. I never did keep track but have an idea when.
He quit out of respect for me, who comes from a long line of drunken ijits. I'm not a nasty drunk but my impulse control is zero when I drink. I was the type who immediately wanted to grab the car keys and go a-visitin'. Wrecked a Cordoba, a jeep, a cavalier and a civic.
Never got hurt and never hurt anyone, just some poles, ditches and trees. It's a good thing we live rural..
Anyways. I'm rambling...point is we are in the same camp as you. As soon as certain folks meet their demise via a short Nuremberg type rope or head to the gulag we will be getting smashed. 🤣
I also have been sober for about 15 or so years now. out of respect for ME.. :) I also didn't really keep track but I when I had 'stomach/gut" issues (still do) it was the first thing to do.. and I don't miss it at all.. my son and his wife who were never much on alcohol said exactly what you said about life long friend of his who goes through "binge drinking" bouts aka weekend functional alcoholic: John said that alcohol impairs one's judgement,, and though he was not much a drinker I realized that he.. (he is a Christian and brilliant math computer programmer) .. and KEEN OBSERVER of other's behavior.. put that together after watching some of his friends, two in particular, ruin.. and I do mean ruin their lives from two incidents which resulted from those men being totally drunk in a restaurant.. and the other in his local neighborhood: that does not even include the "litany of cars destroyed".. by the first one. So eventually one does their moment of clarity. :) good post and great responses
Another fun rant, Mike. Always a pleasure to read.
Like you, I take the occasional break from drinking. Does the body good. I also use Mac. I have two MacBook Pros, but they're so old, I wouldn't dream of using them online. They are for video editing and other fun projects. Your reference to the 'Willard' movie brought me back. I loved that movie when I saw it first (in the theatre). Would love to find it on DVD. I recently watched 'Return of the Dragon' on VHS. That was a blast from the past.
Ha!!! First time seeing Frank Sinatra singing with the Fifth Dimension. Brought back good memories of their music. Can’t say I’ll join your “pause” but I’ll be rooting for you!!!
Sorry Mike.... Was a TikTok showing pharma after pharma big name in Ukraine.... Apparently the Ukies were our main bioweapon production workers. Hence, the drive to punish Mother Russia...

Feels fkn good, doesn't it?😉
I'm not much of a singer but I'll make an exception!
I'm charging you with the song list responsibility Mike! You always post great tunes.
As long as you can include some Canucks like Max Webster, Rush and Tragically Hip 🎸🎸🎸
Ditto!💕
Awesome writing...very Bukowski-esque.
Perfectly placed "fucks"
Perfect number of "fucks"

Great clip, Mike! Thanks.
Great link----that was fun!
You are never going to drink again? Serious. Very
I'll have a drink in my hand when the hangman makes the pull.
I think I shall volunteer to be the official executive hangman executioner for that celebratory week... gratis.
Get your beer / martini ready Mike! 😎
"show our commit suicide card to get in".
Good one.
